Community Open House: Air & Noise Monitoring near Oil & Gas Well Sites in Carlsbad & Loving, New Mexico.
Dr. Lea Hildebrandt Ruiz and her research team hosted an in-person open house to learn more about independent research on air quality and noise around oil and gas well sites in the Eagle Ford Shale region in Texas. The research is being funded by Health Effects Institute Energy (HEI Energy) and is underway through 2024. The Open House provided an opportunity to:
- Learn about the air quality research, its purpose and ways that you can participate, engage and stay up-to-date.
- Meet the research teams from the University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University and the University of Southern California.
- View posters illustrating the research and what you can expect while it is underway.
- See some of the equipment in action which the teams are using to detect oil and gas emissions and noise.
- Interact with research teams directly, ask questions about the research, and share any ideas or concerns.
