Unconventional Oil & Natural Gas - First Community Workshop, June 2014, Pittsburgh, PA
The first of three community workshops provided an opportunity for the HEI Scientific Committee to hear from interested parties regarding the potential impacts of unconventional oil and natural gas development and recommendations for scientific research to better understand them. In addition, all workshop participants heard a series of technical talks that summarize what is known about potential impacts on human health, communities, and the environment as well as a technical talk regarding the basics of unconventional oil and gas development technology and ongoing research to improve technology/practice to prevent or minimize impacts. Organizational support was provided by the University of Pittsburgh Institute for Politics.
