Potential Human Health Effects Associated with Unconventional Oil and Gas Development: A Systematic Review of the Epidemiology Literature (FINAL REPORT)
This report reviews the epidemiology research that assesses whether exposure to unconventional oil and natural gas development (UOGD) might lead to adverse health effects. The HEI-Energy Research Committee (the “Committee”) conducted this review as part of a larger effort to understand the state of the science about potential exposure and health effects from UOGD. The Committee will use results from this review and a companion review of literature on potential human exposures to inform HEI-Energy’s planning for research to better understand potential exposures associated with UOGD.
